In the grand finale of Miss Nepal 2017, the crown was awarded to Nikita Chandak from Morang. Nikita, a professional model and a fashion student, was considered one of the most deserving contestant of the beauty contest. Miss Nepal 2016, Asmi Shrestha had crowned Nikita in the event held in Hotel Annapurna venue on June 2, 2017.

The Miss Nepal 2008 contest was canceled at the last minute.
The contestants of Miss Nepal 2008 completed the training and on the last day of the finale, the event was canceled. The Maoist parliamentarians and the organization they were affiliated with were threatening to do harm if the contest went through despite of their protest. The party was the ruling party and the risk was not worth taking for the organizer.
Some of the contestants later participated in the 2009 edition of the contest. The Miss Nepal 2009, Zenisha Moktan, was one of the contestants of 2008. Miss Nepal Earth 2009, Sahana Bajracharya was also one of the contestants of 2008.

One of the most popular Miss Nepal, Miss Nepal 2002, Malvika Subba is a popular media personality, an actress, social activist & entrepreneur. A graduate of Mass Communication and Journalism degree, Malvika was crowned the Miss Nepal 2002 when she was 21-years-old.
She had been anchoring and producing various television shows and has modelled in various music videos, and acted in movies. Malvika debuted as a film producer of a 2016 release movie ‘How Funny’.
Malvika married Riyaz Shrestha and is going to give birth to their first child in April 2016.

Nepali actress and model Jharana Bajracharya has given birth to a son on April 9, 2016. Both the mother and the son are reported to be healthy and recovering from the pregnancy.
The baby boy named Isaan was born at 8:19min the Saturday morning at Tung Shin Hospital in Malaysia. Weighting 3.31 kg the head circumference is 33.

The contestant number 9, Jyoti Pradhan was crowned Miss Nepal 1998. But, Jyoti was stripped off of her crowned when she didn’t return back home after participating in an international contest.
The official Miss Nepal 1998 is the contestant number 4, Niru Shrestha. Niru was originally the first runner up. There is no official first runner up. The second runner up is Sreejana KC. Prabha Amatya and Kristi Shrestha were the third and the fourth runner ups respectively.
Niru Shrestha later pursued career as a pilot. Niru is the only Miss Nepal in that field. Until 1998, no official Miss Nepal was of Newar ethnicity (when Miss Nepal World 1997 is not considered Miss Nepal).
Newar Miss Nepal
The year 1998 marks the start of the crowning of Miss Nepal of Newar ethnicity. It was not only the dethroned Miss Nepal, Jyoti Pradhan was Newar, the Miss Nepal 1998 Niru Shrestha, is also a Newar. After that, more than half of all the Miss Nepal were of Newar ethnicity. The following two lists compare the Miss Nepal of Newar ethnicity.
Miss Nepal 1997, Neelima Gurung had also won the Miss Personality title in Miss Nepal 1997 beauty pageant. The Miss Pokhara 1996, Neelima, was the first participant from Pokhara to win the competition. Biography video of Neelima Gurung:
