Pink Pageant 2012 – LGBTI beauty pageant held on October 14

Pink Pageant 2012 was held in Kathmandu on October 14, 2012. In the beauty contest contestants from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community of Nepal participated to win the Miss Pink 2012 title. The beauty contest was organized by Blue Diamond Society, a non-governmental organization representing and addressing needs of LGBTI community in Nepal. The message of the contest was, “We all are different. We all are equal.”


The Pink Pageant was one part of an extensive First South Asian LGBTI Sports Festival 2012 organized from October 12 to 14, 2012. In the program various events including Kabaddi, basketball, vollyball and other athletic events were organized. The event schedule is posted at the end of this post.

Miss Pink Nepal 2012 title was awarded to Purnima. Purnima received Rs. 15,000 cash prize and the crown. She will participated in the World 3rd Gender beauty contest to be held in Thailand later this year.

The first runner up was Prachin Gurung and the second runner up Salina Sherpa received Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 cash prize.
