Neelima Gurung, Biography of Miss Nepal 1997 (video)

Miss Nepal 1997, Neelima Gurung had also won the Miss Personality title in Miss Nepal 1997 beauty pageant. The Miss Pokhara 1996, Neelima, was the first participant from Pokhara to win the competition. Biography video of Neelima Gurung:

At the time of crowning, Neelima was 19 years old and 5 feet and 6 inches tall.

These days, Neelima runs a fitness center in Pokhara. In the fitness center, Neelima offers Zumba training. The participants have fun time with the former Miss Nepal learning the body tuning dance and exercise in the Zumba class.

The real Miss Nepal 1997

Two beautiful ladies simultaneously claim the Miss Nepal 1997 title – Jharana Bajracharya and Neelima Gurung. While Jharana Bajracharya is Miss Nepal-World, Neelima Gurung is the real Miss Nepal.

The confusion raised because two similar contests were held in 1997. Miss Nepal contest was started by Kathmandu Jaycees in 1994. Jaycees had contracted Hidden Treasure for the organization the contest in 1996. When, Jaycees decided not to hire Hidden Treasure in the 1997 edition of the beauty contest, they decided to organize their own Miss Nepal, with ‘World’ attached to the title.

In the contest organized by Kathmandu Jaycee – Neelima was crowned the Miss Nepal. In the contest organized by Hidden Treasure, Jharana Bajracharya was crowned the Miss Nepal World 1997.

Later, Hidden Treasure continued to organize Miss Nepal every year and Kathmandu Jaycees didn’t.
