On the occasion of Teej festival Teej fashion shows and beauty contests are held in various parts of Nepal.

The winners of the beauty contest held by an Indian cosmetic company manufacturing Joy Papaya Sun, Joy Papaya Sun Glam Hunt 2013, were awarded cash prizes in a ceremony held in Soltae Hotel. On the event held on Friday, the organizers awarded the prize money tot the winners.
The winner of the contest Miss Glam Hunt 2013, Anita Acharya received a cash prize of Rs. 71,000 for winning the title (Rs. 50,000 prize), Miss Smile and Miss Reader Choice titles. The first runner up Ashishma Nakarmi received Rs. 25,000 in cash prize. The second runner up Sapana Adhikari received Rs. 11,000 in cash prize. Other participants in the contest were also awarded Rs. 2,100 each for the participation.
After training the participants and judging on the finale, ex-Miss Nepal Malvika Subba has returned back to Nepal from the USA on Tuesday. While in USA she was honored by the local Limbu community.

Miss Nepal US 2013 at was held in Queens Theatre in New York on August 17th. In the event, Bartika Rai was awarded the Miss Nepal US(A) 2013 title.
The new Miss Nepal USA 2013 is a creative personality. She is a good musician and writer. She has also modeled in advertisements. We have collected some videos featuring Bartika.
Following video, title ‘The Eraser’, is a sweet and funny advertisement to create awareness on killing animals to produce beauty products.
One of the 16 finalists of Miss Nepal US(A) 2013, Bartika Rai, was crowned this year’s title. With crown, Miss Nepal US(A) 2013 Bartika Rai was awarded scholarship equivalent to a cash prize of $5,000. Bartika is also appointed the brand ambassador of Nepal Tourism Board.
This year’s first runner-up is Anuja Thapa Magar received scholarship equivalent to $3,000 and the second runner-up is Sony Pathak received $2,000 in scholarships.

Sony’s hobbies include reading, traveling, hiking. Sony believes contests like Miss Nepal USA provide a platporm to empower Nepali women to give back to their communities. The contest is also an good medium to bring awareness on social issues and create a link between the people in Nepal and abroad.
